World Can't Wait, OHIO

World Can't Wait is organizing people living in the United States to take responsibility to stop the whole disastrous course led by the Bush administration. We seek to create a political situation where the Bush administration's program is repudiated, where Bush himself is driven from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking U.S. society is reversed.

Upcoming activities in Cleveland- WEAR ORANGE

YOUR GOVERNMENT puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.

Stop the Raids on the Undocumented Immigrants

Rally in front of the Federal Building, Cleveland OH1240 East Ninth Street, (East Ninth and Lakeside)

New Sanctuary Movement activists from the south side of Chicago, delivered a powerful message to the packed sanctuary of Cleveland's Iglesia Nueva Luz on West 89th Street Monday night. New Sanctuary leaders Pastor Walter Coleman of Adalberto United Methodist Church, Emma Lozano, Director of Centro Fronteras and Saulito Arellano, son of Elvira Arellano who was recently deported after taking sanctuary for a year in Adalberto Methodist Church and named Person of the Year by time Magazine in 2006 will be in Washington DC on September 12 to call on Congress to initiate legislation for humane treatment of undocumented people and their families. Human and Immigrant Rights groups around the nation will join in solidarity demonstrations on Wednesday, September 12 at immigration offices to demand an end to:

* Raids on Central American and Latino workers undocumented in the US
* Racial Profiling
* Use of Severe, Terrorizing Tactics with Immigrants
* Separation of Families

Bring a sign - "STOP THE RAIDS"

Cleveland is about to take a stand against the harsh policies targeting immigrants. We want advocates from all over Ohio to represent at this rally. We need to make a strong statement NOW.

· 180 workers in a chicken plant were arrested in Butler County , Ohio , last week. Many face months in prison.
· 45 men, women and minors arrested in sweeps in Painesville since May 18. Most were low-wage field and factory workers. Some are still in jails around Ohio , or permanently deported.
· Congress has approved 45,000 new detention beds for immigrants, including children.
· Families are being separated by the thousands.
· Hundreds are dying at the border.
When we will stand up and say, “Enough!” ?
It’s time to let our elected officials know we will no longer stand by as our communities are destroyed.
